ACS Member Spotlight - John Chillari - RS6 V10

Welcome to our new member spotlight. From now on, we'll be selecting a new member car each month and sharing some photos and insights into them and their car. We know that members of the club are always curious about the modifications that we all do to our cars and we thought that this was a great place to share your stories.

Le us introduce you to John Chillari and his beautiful Audi RS6 V10. For those of you that attend regular events with the club, you would have met John or at least heard his car. We asked John to share a few things about his passion for cars and about his RS6.

What's Audi model do you drive and what drew you to buy this particular car?

I drive the 2010 Audi Rs6 C6 fitted with the unique Lamborghini V10 5 litre engine with twin turbos strapped to it. They say that the engineers at Audi must have been on drugs when they hatched this project. I previously owned an S4 and an Rs4 B7. Loved these but wanted to get into something a bit different 

Can you share a favourite feature or unique aspect of your car?

One thing I love about it is the sheer torque and the exhaust symphony particularly through tunnels And the fact that most people have no idea what this thing really is and the subtle V10 badge on the front fenders are sometimes a giveaway. 

When did your love/passion for cars start?

My passion for cars started in my teens. Owning at one time an Alfa Sud that I modified with twin webbers and at that time a heavy duty clutch. It smoked up the front tyres. And later on an XD falcon with a 351 big lumpy cam top loader box and 31 spline 9” diff. It was pretty mean. 

How have you personalised or modified your car to make it truly yours?

I’ve had the suspension modified and lowered with Bilstein Coil overs to give it that unique stance. And the silver wheels and painted calipers makes it mine. 

If you could make any other upgrades or modifications to your car, what would they be?

Let’s see. I’ve modified the exhaust with larger down pipes  from KWE Racing and oversized intercoolers also from KWE. Had a custom engine and gearbox tune. Recently had the gearbox overhauled and beefed up. Fitted a water methanol injection system to maintain a cooler engine temperature on high boost. The twin turbo chargers have upgraded with internal enlargement and ball bearings capable of up to 900 plus horsepower. Plus lots of other little bits and pieces to make it different. I can’t think at the moment of what other mods I could do. I’ve done all I can think of at this stage.

What's the most memorable road trip you've taken in this car?

You know I’ve really haven’t done a great road trip in this beast. The most memorable trips I’ve done is with this great club. Some of the drives have been unforgettable. Beautiful scenery and excellent twisty country roads that really show off what even a big car like this is capable of. 

How does driving your current car make you feel?

Driving this beast is a real buzz. In drive mode it is tame  but still responsive if you put your foot down.  But in sports mode, holy crap. It like a scalded cat. It goes nuts. Now that is what makes it memorable. 

Is this car your daily, or is it a weekend toy?

This is my daily. The fact that it’s on the road every day and not stored away to use occasionally can lead to extra servicing and maintenance but this is the nature of the beast. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

What other cars do you have?

I really don’t have any other cars except for my wife’s Tiguan which is so damn quiet but sometimes I wonder if the engine is still running. Nah I’ll stick with my Rs6 thank you. 

What is your ultimate dream car?

Ultimate dream car besides the obvious outrageous latest Lamborghini would have to be a 1967 Mustang Eleanor. Love the shape the colour and the sound. Old school car that you drive and not the computers assisting you.
